What You Need To Boot The HP Laptop
If you wish to boot your HP laptop from USB, then you can simply take it to the local tech store and get it done from there. However, you can also get it done at home yourself. But, for that, you are going to need a few things. The first thing is a USB drive; make sure to get your hands on a USB drive with the maximum amount of storage space.
For booting an HP laptop with a USB drive, the best USB storage space is 32 GB. Another thing that you are going to need is the license to the Window that you want to upgrade to. If you wish to upgrade your HP to Windows 10, get the license for Windows 10.
Preparing USB Drive
If you do not have that, then let me share a few tips for that. You need to plug your USB drive into a laptop or PC that already has the Windows that you want to upgrade your current laptop to. Add the USB drive into that laptop’s USB port, go to Microsoft’s website, and download the Windows Media Creation Tool.
After downloading the tool, open it and accept the license terms that are displayed on the screen. After accepting the terms, you will need to select the option ‘create installation media’ on the screen and click on the ‘Next’ button. From there, select the language and edition settings and click on the ‘Next’ key again.
After that, another window will open and you will need to click on the ‘USB flash drive’ option. Once you have selected the USB drive on your screen, it will start downloading the Windows on your USB drive. After the download is complete, your USB drive is ready to boot your HP laptop.
How To Boot From USB
After the Windows is downloaded to the drive, it is time for the real job, i.e., boot the HP laptop from the USB drive. Connect the USB to the laptop by inserting it into the USB port.
After inserting the USB, turn on the laptop. Then press the F9 key from your HP laptop keyboard to open the BIOS setup. You can also press the F10 key for opening the BIOS settings.
After that, you need to select the USB drive option from the screen. Use the arrow up and down keys. From there, you will need to adjust a few settings that include ‘language to install’, ‘time format’, and ‘keyboard or input method’. After you have adjusted all of these settings, click on the install now option. A window will appear on the screen, asking for a product key; enter the Activate Windows product key there.
Once that is done, you will need to select the Operating System that you want to install into your HP laptop and click on the ‘Next’ button. After that, accept the license terms that appear on your screen and click on the next key again. When a question pops up on the screen asking you about the type of installation, you will need to select the ‘install windows only’ option.
After that, you will need to select the drive for installing the Operating System and click on the install button. Your system will start installing Windows on your laptop. After the installation is complete, restart your device.
